Performance Optimization: Six Steps to Fix a Slow Windows VPS

1. Find the hog

Task Manager → sort by CPU/disk. A single runaway (search indexer, update) is the usual suspect — not the plan size.

2. Trim startup

Disable everything non-essential at boot. Servers do not need Spotify updaters.

3. Disk first

Spinning-rust era is over — if you are on HDD tiers, move hot data to our NVMe plans (HS series or 2GB+ KVM).

4. Drivers & VirtIO

Paravirtual drivers for disk/net cut latency dramatically on KVM.

5. Tune RDP

Lower color depth, disable wallpaper/compositing for admin sessions.

6. Right-size

Sustained >75% CPU means upgrade: HS ladder. Burstable spikes mean optimize first.
